Abstract

The MUTEK AI Ecologies Lab brings together artists, researchers, and technologists to develop sustainable AI practices within the cultural sector. Through an interdisciplinary approach integrating Design Thinking and a hackathon format, participants co-develop ethical and ecologically-minded AI solutions. The Lab’s unique methodology “creates a middle path between technological acceleration and careful consideration of consequences,” ultimately serving as a blueprint for addressing complex socio-technical challenges and promoting a more responsible relationship between technology, culture, and the environment.
