Job Description

The Milieux Institute at Concordia University is an interdisciplinary research hub at the intersection of arts, culture, and technology. Our website is a key vehicle for communicating our research, connecting our clusters, and engaging our broader community. We are looking for a student with strong WordPress and web design skills to optimize and enhance the institute’s online presence while maintaining its existing visual identity.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess the current website for accessibility, usability, and visual consistency across desktop and mobile.
  • Propose and implement improvements to layout, navigation, typography, and content presentation.
  • Ensure design changes reflect the institute’s visual identity and the diversity of its research clusters.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Communications throughout the process.
  • Document all changes made to the website for future reference and continuity.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as an Undergraduate or Master’s student at Concordia University, in good academic standing (required).
  • Experience with WordPress, including theme customization, plugin management, and page builders such as Elementor.
  • Solid understanding of responsive design for desktop and mobile environments.
  • Ability to work within and maintain an established visual identity and design system.
  • Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and communicate progress clearly.
  • Background in Design, Fine Arts, Communications, or a related field is an asset.
  • Familiarity with academic, cultural, or research institution websites is an asset.

Salary Terms

The hourly rate and total contracted hours are determined by the academic level of the selected candidate, in accordance with CREW-CSN Collective Agreement rates (Appendix A1, effective June 1, 2025 – May 30, 2026):
