Job Description
The Milieux Institute at Concordia is an interdisciplinary research hub at the intersection of arts, culture and technology.
We are seeking a creative and motivated undergraduate student to work as a part-time Social Media Assistant. The Social Media Assistant will help develop and produce engaging content — including short-form video, photography and written posts — for Milieux’s social media channels.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to how Milieux tells its story and connects with academic, artistic and public audiences. The successful candidate will be involved throughout the content creation process — from pitching ideas, to capturing events, to editing and publishing across platforms.
The ideal candidate has an avid interest in research communications, understands what makes content resonate on social media, and enjoys translating complex, interdisciplinary work into compelling, accessible stories.
Responsabilities
- Develop and pitch creative social media content ideas aligned with Milieux’s mandate and strategic objectives around knowledge mobilization and public engagement.
- Create, film, photograph and edit content — including short-form video — for platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Capture photo and video content at Milieux events, exhibitions, residencies and symposia throughout the academic year.
- Conduct interviews with member researchers, students, faculty and visiting artists for social media content.
- Monitor social media trends, platform updates and emerging content formats relevant to arts, culture and technology audiences.
- Communicate in a voice and tone distinctive of Milieux, following established brand guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Head of Communications to plan and execute content calendars.
- Adapt content based on feedback, performance insights and editorial direction.
Qualifications
- Experience creating social media content, including filming, editing and publishing for platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn.
- Strong understanding of social media trends, storytelling techniques and platform-specific formats.
How to Apply
Send a cover letter, CV and examples of previous social media content (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube or other digital content you’ve created) to Ophélie Queffurus, Head of Communications at Milieux Institute, [ophelie.queffurus@concordia.ca].
Preference given to currently registered Milieux student members.
