[CALL] Milieux Support Funding for Student Research-Creation Projects

The Milieux Institute invites students to submit proposals for student funding to support showcase of research-creation projects developed between June 1st – August 31st, 2026.

The purpose of this initiative is to support student-driven research-creation at the prototyping stage. Projects should already be in development and ready to advance through this funding opportunity.

All submitted projects will be considered for inclusion in Milieux’s 10th anniversary event during Fall 2026. We expect to fund 4-6 projects in the $500-$1500 range intended to cover all project costs, including honoraria, material, and possibly small equipment.

Project criteria:
  1. The project should be a suitable scale and scope such that prototypes and/or results can be showcased during Milieux’s 10th anniversary event this fall (date to be confirmed).
  1. Selected applicants must create a profile on the Milieux ArtReach platform and document their project once completed.
  1. Projects must acknowledge the support of Milieux.
  1. Applicants are expected to provide a project artifact (such as a prototype or video/photos for performative works) that will be displayed in the institute’s spaces (vitrine, nerve centre, etc.).
How to Apply?

Applications should include the following:

  • Short project description.
  • Visuals (if available at this stage of the project).
  • Sample budget and budget justification
  • Projected timeline for the completion of work.

Selected projects will receive an honorarium adjusted based on the project’s scope. Collectives and groups are welcome to apply.

Applicants can expect a response within a few days of the deadline. Selected projects may be invited for an additional round of consultation to further define communication and exhibition requirements.
