Field experiences with people and place are complex, complicated, layered, and quickly challenge professional boundaries. Do these transgressions and moments of deep intimacy compromise or enhance ethnographic fieldwork? Where is the line? Often it seems to be a moving target.
This workshop aims to open a candid conversation about emotions and entanglements in ethnographic fieldwork. It is an opportunity to think and feel about the very real encounters and relationships that develop in the field; those which academic training may not have prepared us for and which may create serious tensions for ethics protocols.
How do we negotiate this fluid and tricky terrain?
Join us in the Ethnography Lab on April 21st for a lively exploration of these questions.
