Job Description


The Milieux Institute at Concordia University is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research at the intersection of arts, culture, and technology. We are looking for a talented and creative writer/storyteller to join our team. The Storyteller will play a pivotal role in crafting and communicating the narratives surrounding the Institute’s research, events, and projects. The position involves developing and producing compelling stories, articles, and interviews that highlight the Institute’s research initiatives and events. The successful candidate will collaborate with graduate students, faculty, and researchers to gather insights and stories that effectively communicate the significance of their work. Stories will be published on our website according to a calendar established in collaboration with Milieux Head of Communications.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and produce weekly stories, articles, and interviews that highlight the Institute’s research and events. Assignments will vary in length from 500 to 1000 words, depending on the subject and format.
  • Collaborate with members to gather insights and stories.
  • Take directions from the Head of Communications who will assign topics and provide guidance.

Desired Qualifications and Skills of an Ideal Candidate:

  • Exceptional writing skills in English and experience in storytelling.
  • Ability to translate complex research and technical information into accessible and engaging narratives.
  • Ability to work independtly once given guidance.
  • Confortable with meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible with work hours (the position requires meeting up with members).
  • Strong interest in research-creation and interdisciplinary research.
  • Excellente interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.

Salary Term:

Based on the CREW/CARE collective agreement rates for research positions.

Approximate Weekly Hours:

10 hours/week
