Milieux Members Present at ISEA 2025

The Milieux Institute is pleased to highlight the substantial participation of its members at ISEA 2025 in Seoul (May 24-30), an annual symposium fostering interdisciplinary knowledge in art, science, and technology. This year’s theme, “Dong-Dong,” encourages a new worldview transcending conventional boundaries.

Affiliate member and Co-Director of the Hexagram Network for Research-Creation in Art, Culture and Technology Sofían Audry will present “Mutability and Renewal: An Experience Report for the Transference of Performative Agent Behavior in Reinforcement Learning in ‘the Fold’” 

Professor Ricardo Dal Farra will discuss “A Possible Path to Sustainable Futures Through the Transdisciplinary Encounter Between Art and Science: The Balance-Unbalance Project“

Bart Simon, Gina Haraszti, Darren Wershler and Angelica Calcagnile will present the Fun Palace SMP experience on Minecraft with “The Fun Palace, Cybernetic Possibilities and Minecraft”.

On May 25, MFA Graduate Student Sabina Gámez will be facilitating a workshop titled”Embodied Futures: Navigating Body, Technology, and belonging” alongside Assistant Professor Santiago Tavera and artist-researcher Laura Acosta. The workshop explores how identity is presented and represented in today’s visual culture and digital mediation.

Ph.D Candidate Brice Ammar-Khodja will also be leading a hands-on workshop alongside Jean-Michaël Celerier introducing participants to “data polysensualization”, an innovative approach to making invisible environmental data perceptible through multiple senses. 

Alumna Ryth Kesselring will also be presenting a piece titled “Can you hear the ground shout?” at the Seoul Calligraphy Art Museum (May 23-29) as part of an exhibition highlighting Quebec’s artists.
