Milieux Summer Writing residency is back!

Summer is a time for writing for many of us, but not everyone has an easy time finding a stable functional space where they can concentrate. Some write at home, at cafés, in the library or in other workspaces but why not a graduate writing residency at Milieux?

This summer, we are pleased to announce that the Milieux Institute Summer Writing Residency is back! Starting Monday June 3rd, Textiles and Materiality Cluster will host this summer’s writer’s residency, designed for students requiring a stable, quiet and convivial space to research, reflect, and write. Upon admission to this summer program, you will have access to a desk in a beautiful plant-filled, and bright air-conditioned space within Milieux, with the support of peers. We are hoping you will share your research with the residency cohort through informal congregate events throughout the residency period.

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

Be a Milieux graduate student member writing for a thesis or comprehensive exam, you can commit to using your desk for at least 3 days a week, and keep the space clean and tidy. You will be able to leave books and other materials, the cluster door is safely secured with key card access.

HOW TO APPLY?

✉️ Interested applicants should reach out to Marc Beaulieu at marc.beaulieu@concordia.ca. Use the email subject line “Summer Writing Residency” and include in the body:

  • Type of writing (thesis, exam, other)
  • Any relevant writing deadlines
  • Projected time commitment for space usage, including vacations

📅 The program will run from June 3rd to August 25th

There are a limited number of desk spaces so we cannot promise to give everyone a spot, but we will do our best to accommodate as many students as possible. Application remains open as long as there are unfilled desk spaces!
