The Responsive Object – Politics of Hospitality

Would you like to become a host for The Responsive Object?

Starting March 16, 2025, at 2 p.m, this unique experiment will journey through 8 different households, and we’re inviting you to be part of it!

As a host, you’ll welcome The Responsive Object into your home for one week. It will be a temporary guest, and you’ll be invited to interact with it, care for it, and observe how it responds to its environment.

This special guest will respond to its environment and speak back to you. It will also invite you to initiate some actions including, recording your heartbeat and your voice, send a postcard, and connect with the previous and following hosts.

When the time comes to pass it on, we’ll help you arrange a handoff in a public space – whether it’s a café, a library, a museum, or a park. There, you’ll share your experience and pass this special guest on to the next host.

At the end of the 8-week journey, all hosts will be invited to a special dinner at the MILIEUX Institute, where stories will be exchanged through a soundscape composition and conversation.

If you’re up for the adventure, please find more details and register through the form below.
