SUMMARY:Orange Shirt Day Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The orange shirt is a symbol of the experiences of Indigenous children\, families\, and communities affected by the residential school system\, and a reminder that Every Child Matters. Ahead of Orange Shirt Day (September 30)\, the FOFA Gallery\, in collaboration with the Indigenous Futures Research Centre (IFRC) and the Textiles & Materialities Research Cluster invite the Concordia community to come together to learn\, reflect\, and create. \nLed by artist Abby Maxwell\, this workshop will introduce naturally dyeing using cosmos plants. Participants will engage in a discussion about the history and significance of Orange Shirt Day and the Day for Truth and Reconciliation \nThe event is by donation and open to the Concordia community. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. \nAll dyeing materials and shirts will be provided (limited sizes and quantities available).\nAll proceeds from this event will go to the Indian Residential School Survivor Society (IRSSS). \n  \n  September 29\, 2026 \n 2-5 PM \nEV Courtyard \n
