SUMMARY:Autumn Light (Lumen printing)
DESCRIPTION:Join us on November 5\, 2026\, for a hands-on workshop led by PhD student Oriana Confente.  \nExplore the poetic intersection of ecology\, natural light\, and early photographic history in Autumn Light\, a camera-less photography workshop. Grounded in 19th-century photographic traditions\, this 90-minute workshop invites participants to slow down and record the organic forms\, textures\, and silhouettes of seasonal flora.  \nAs one of the most direct ways to capture nature’s impression\, lumen printing relies solely on light-sensitive silver gelatin paper\, moisture\, and direct sunlight. This session explores light and botany through chemical-free photography\, by leveraging the natural reaction between plant matter and photo paper\, participants will reveal nuanced color tones and delicate botanical structures without darkroom developers.  \nTo mirror the impermanence of the medium\, the prints will remain unfixed\, allowing them to continuously adapt and change as time passes.  \nNo prior photography or printmaking experience is required.  \n🎟️  Space is limited to 10 spots\, so please make sure you register to attend. \n This workshop is open exclusively to members of the Concordia community.  \n \nABOUT ORIANA CONFENTE:  \n Oriana Confente is an artist-researcher\, writer\, and mess-maker based between Tkaronto / Toronto and Tiohtiá:ke / Montreal. She’s interested in postnatural ecologies\, especially concerning more-than-human encounters through alternative photography. Her work has been shared internationally through exhibitions (Toronto\, Montreal\, Coimbra)\, peer-reviewed journals or cultural publications (photographies\, Imaginations\, Esse)\, and artist residencies (JOYA\, Groundworks\, SFSIA). Oriana is currently an artist-in-residence at the Art Gallery of Burlington with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Cannonbury Foundation. She is continuing her research into sustainable image-making as a PhD student at Concordia University.  \n  \n  \n📅  November 5\, 2026  \n⏱️ 3:30-5 PM  \n📍 MaSH Lab EV 10.615  \n  \nBy attending this event\, you consent to being photographed\, filmed\, or recorded.
