Research Bites: Research Initiatives at AbTeC

Join us at the IFRC for a lunchtime conversation with Julia Therrien (Abundant Intelligences Associate Director of Research Operations), Van Racine (Skins Coordinator), and Arijit Debnath (AbTeC Gallery Coordinator) to learn about the research and research-creation initiatives at Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace (AbTeC).

AbTeC is a research-creation studio-lab bringing together artists, academics, activists, and technologists to explore the intersections of Indigenous creative practice, cultural expression, knowledge frameworks, and networked technologies. This Research Bites session will introduce three of its initiatives: AbTeC Gallery, an Indigenously determined virtual exhibition space for contemporary art; Skins, a series of workshops supporting Indigenous storytelling and digital media; and Abundant Intelligences, an international project exploring the integration of Indigenous Knowledges and artificial intelligence systems. Through a conversation with members behind these initiatives, participants will have an opportunity to learn about their work, approaches, and ongoing research.

Research Bites is a lunchtime series hosted by the Indigenous Futures Research Centre (IFRC), creating space for members to share their work in a casual, conversational setting. Bring your lunch, meet fellow researchers, and join us for an exchange across disciplines!
