Job Description
The Milieux Institute at Concordia University is dedicated to fostering interdisciplinary research at the intersection of arts, culture, and technology. We are looking for a talented and creative writer/storyteller to join our team.
As our storyteller you’ll play a pivotal role in crafting and communicating the narratives surrounding the Institute’s research, events, and projects. The position involves developing and producing compelling stories, articles, and interviews that highlight the Institute’s research impact. The successful candidate will collaborate with graduate students and faculty to gather insights and stories that effectively communicate the significance of their work. Stories will be featured on the Milieux Institute website according to a calendar established in collaboration with Milieux Head of Communications.
Core Responsibilities:

- Develop and produce weekly stories, articles, and interviews that highlight the Institute’s research and events.

- Collaborate with faculty and graduate students to gather insights and impactful narratives

- Lead and facilitate storytelling initiatives, including workshops and training sessions for students, empowering them to effectively communicate their own research and projects..

- Manage content publication on the Institute’s website, following an established editorial calendar.
Desired Qualifications and Skills of an Ideal Candidate:

- Exceptional writing skills in English and experience in storytelling.

- Demonstrated ability to translate complex research and technical information into accessible, and engaging narratives.

- Strong ability to work independently once given guidance and deadlines.

- Flexible with work hours (the position requires attendance to a team meeting once a week, interviewing members and attendance to key events).

- Strong interest in research-creation and interdisciplinary research.

- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment.
Salary Terms:
Compensation will be based on the CREW/CARE collective agreement rates for research employees.
Approximate Weekly Hours:
Approximately 10 hours per week (360 hours total, distributed between September 2 and May 1); final hours to be determined based on rate and available budget.
